Ohrid is a town in southwestern North Macedonia on the shore of Lake Ohrid. A town of vast history and heritage, it was made a UNESCO heritage site in 1980. Flying to Ohrid
The most convenient way to reach Ohrid is by plane. Ohrid "St. Paul the Apostle" International Airport (IATA: OHD), is located about 7 km from city centre (location). It is a very small airport and it sees at most a few flights per day. Flights are operated between Ohrid and several European cities including Vienna, Amsterdam Schiphol, Basel/Mulhouse, Belgrade, Brussels, Eindhoven, London (Luton), Sofia, and Zurich Airport, as well as Ben Gurion Airport in Israel.
Flying to Skopje
Skopje International Airport (IATA: SKP), (location), is the larger and busier of the two international airports in North Macedonia, with the other being the St. Paul the Apostle Airport in Ohrid. Taking a bus from Skopje Bus Station to Ohrid
The easiest way to get to Ohrid is from Bus Station Skopje, where buses run every few hours (location). A bus from Skopje takes about 3 and a half hours and costs about 860 denars one way or about 1250 denars return. Most convenient transport providers are Galeb AD Ohrid and Makedonija Soobrakaj A.D. Reaching Skopje Bus Station from Skopje International Airport
In case of flying to Skopje and then coming to Ohrid by bus, you’ll have to use shuttle bus or taxi services to reach Skopje Bus station from Skopje International Airport. Shuttle bus timetable, ticket price and working hours are given here.
Reaching Ohrid City Center from Ohrid Bus Station
Ohrid’s Bus Station is located about 2 km outside of the Centre of town, about a 30-minute walk (location). Taking a taxi to the centre is easy enough as there are lots of them waiting outside the station anytime. Taxi drivers may try to charge tourists higher rates, so insist on a set price. For a ride to the centre, 100-200 den seems fair.

Taking a taxi from Skopje International Airport to Ohrid
It is possible to reach Ohrid from Skopje using taxi services. The taxi services at Skopje International Airport are regulated by the price list which is exhibited at the exit of the airport and in each taxi vehicle separately. The vehicles of the Airport taxi company are all in white color and marked with a taxi sign numbered from 1 to 65. Airport taxi is the only company which has been authorized by TAV Macedonia to transport passengers from Skopje International Airport. The vehicles are parked at the exit of the airport building 24 hours a day, so there is no need for reservations. Minibuses are the most used transportation form in Ohrid, as they operate very frequently throughout the day (15-20-30 min). There are numerous minibus companies with law regulated fares for specific destinations, depending on the journey length. Ticket from Ohrid City Center to Hotel Metropol costs around 50 den. Tickets can be bought directly in the bus, paying in cash. There are two departing stations, both located at bul. Turisticka: bus stop right after Martina bakery and bus stop right after "St. Clement of Ohrid" gymnasium.

There is a local bus, operating not very frequently between Ohrid (Bus Station as first stop) and Peshtani (last stop). Hotel Metropol is in between and has own stop. The line number is 7/2 Ohrid - Peshtani - Ohrid (Охрид - Пештани - Охрид) and the ticket price is around 50 den. Tickets can be bought directly in the bus, paying in cash.
