Description
Waterborne polymer composites containing reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) hybrid fillers were prepared and characterized in terms of their mechanical and electrical properties. The hybrid fillers were incorporated into a methacrylic polymer matrix at 0.25, 0.5, and 1.0 wt% loadings, using rGO:MWCNT weight ratios of 10:1, 1:1, and 1:10. The composites were prepared at room temperature by mixing aqueous dispersions of the polymer and carbon nanofillers.
Tensile testing showed that both filler content and composition strongly affected the mechanical response. In particular, incorporation of 0.25 wt% MWCNT-rich filler increased the elongation at break from 156% for the neat polymer to 218%, demonstrating enhanced flexibility. Electrical measurements confirmed conductive behavior for the investigated composites, with the highest conductivity of 8.2×10⁻³ S/m obtained for the MWCNT-rich formulation. These results demonstrate that the rGO:MWCNT weight ratios and filler loading can be used to tailor the balance between flexibility and electrical conductivity in waterborne polymer composites.
