Description

In most parts of Kosova during winter time, in many living spaces, by choice, woods are used for heating. Apart from warming atmosphere, wood burning affect air quality, inner and outer atmosphere. This is the main reason to this study.
Cuercus Petraea, sessile oak or cornish oak wood ash is chosen as sample of research. Atomic absorption spectrometry is used as method. 20 wood ash samples were collected from home fire places, day after burning.
Measurements detected metals Fe, Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd, Ni, Cr in different concentrations. Cu, Cd, Cr in smaller concentrations. Ranges from 2 – 2, 62 mg/kg for Cu, Cr and Cd were in much lower concentrations, Cr in range from 0.01 – 0.03 mg/kg, while Cd concentrations in range from 0.08 – 0.26 mg/kg. Fe, Zn and Ni concentrations were much higher; from 180.55 – 520 mg/kg for Fe; 35.24- 65.9 mg/kg for Zn and 38.4 – 68.5 mg/kg for Ni, all in dry weight.
Other parameters: LOI (0.1 - 9.5%), pH (10.2 – 10.79), EC (3.18 – 9.61), and total alkalinity (240 – 436.8 mg/L), % DM (81 – 98), % Ash (83 – 98.9) and % OM (0.01 – 0.33) are also different regardless the same type tree wood ash.
