Description
This study studies the extraction of bioactive compounds from selected medicinal and endemic plant species of Kosovo (Thymus praecox, Urtica dioica, Juniperus communis, Hypericum perforatum, Campanula albanica, and Xeranthemum annuum) using Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents (NADES) as sustainable extraction media. The research aims to evaluate the efficiency of NADES in recovering antioxidant-rich compounds, including phenolics and flavonoids, and to compare their performance with conventional organic solvents. Extracts will be characterized through phytochemical analyses and assessed for their antioxidant activity. The study will also examine the ability of NADES to preserve and stabilize bioactive compounds during extraction. The results are expected to contribute to the advancement of green extraction technologies and support the development of natural products for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and functional food applications.
